Winter has arrived!

Brrrr! It is cold! But the Lord`s work goes on! :) This week, my companion and I had a cool experience together, even though it started out with a terrible, horrible, no good very bad day! Everything had gone wrong that morning! It was windy, freezing cold, our appointments fell through, none of the references or less actives we had planned to visit were home, and to top it all off, my bike chain broke while we were at least a 40 minute walk from the nearest bike repair shop! We were pretty discouraged. So we said a little prayer and began our 40 minute walk home. Well, before we got even 2 blocks, we saw a woman walking along the street with an armful of groceries. We stopped and offered to help her, which is when she told us that she had met with the missionaries before and had even visited our church a few times. She agreed to meet with us the next week (this upcoming wednesday). All we could think was, wow! When we got back to our apartment, we looked for her name (Raquel) in our area book, which has the records of all investigators taught in the past, but her name wasn`t there! So if we hadn`t had the delay of my broken bike, we may have never had the chance to find her! The Lord works in mysterious ways :)
I hope we can all look for the Lord`s hand in our lives this week. It is always there, even if we don`t recognize it at first :) love you all! Have an amazing week!

NDH :)

Wow, I have never had so many NDH`s (Noche de Hogar or Family Home Evening) in one week before! We had one with our investigator, Balta, one with a less active family, Rosana and Raul Paco, and one with a recent convert family, the Huallpa family. We shared a different message in each one of them, played a game, and then ate dessert! They were all a lot of fun :) sorry I don`t have much time to be more specific!

My companion and I taught the Gospel Doctrines class on Sunday. It was about the gift of the Holy Ghost. My companion had a cold and had lost her voice, so I had to talk most of the time. Luckily the spirit was with us and everything went well :) it was a great Sunday, Balta came to church and stayed for all 3 hours! Also, we had fast and testimony meeting, which is always a spiritual boost for the week!

Today was more of a relaxed P-day. My companion and I made tacos and watched a church movie together with the other two hermanas in our area. It was great, tacos are delicious!! :)

Here`s a quote I read this week from the October 2014 Liahona:
"Calm seas don`t carry barges to the promised land- stormy seas do." (Ether 6:5-8)

Take care :) love you all!

Cooking like crazy!

I was a baking queen this week! We had 2 Family Home Evenings, New Beginnings for the Young Women, and the birthday of Jazmine Bustamante, a member who always accompanies us to our lessons with investigators, and I baked chocolate chip cookies for each of these events! I think we completely used up our store of chocolate chips and flour for the week ;) and more! But it was worth it, it feels great to serve the members! Especially by giving them something sweet to eat :)

This week, we had a cool experience with the Cristobal Family. They introduced us (again) to more members of their family, Pilar and Paola. After a lesson with all of them about obedience and the ten commandments, we invited them to baptism. They were all really excited! Except, pretty much no one in Olmos is married, so Pilar accepted to a wedding date first. The spirit was so strong! Nothing feels better than inviting people to come unto Christ :)

Today for P-day, we had our District Activity! We went to a park in my old area, La Plata 1, and guess who we found?! Indira!! She was one of my investigators, and is about to be baptized :) I can`t wait to get the good news when it actually happens! She owns an ice cream and pizza shop, and that`s where we had lunch after playing frisbee in the park. It was a BEAUTIFUL day outside too, such a blessing because it has been freezing cold the past week! :)

Love you all! Happy Summer Break! (while I`m here freezing my fingers off ;)) Take care!!

Fwd: Mini Milagro :)

(Sorry, this is from last week! I guess it didn`t send to many of you! But better late than never!)

I spent a lot of time traveling this week! Tuesday, I went to Banfield and received my new companion, Hermana Gonzales, fresh from the Argentina MTC! She`s amazing! :) She has such a sweet personality and is very excited to serve, she`s a natural at being a missionary! I have really enjoyed helping her get used to life as a missionary this week, even though now I`m exhausted ;) I feel like she is actually the one training me, I`ve learned so much with her in just one short week! It`s going to be a great transfer :)

Friday, we traveled back to Banfield for a new missionary/trainers meeting with our mission President. That helped me to understand a little better what is expected of me as a trainer. I also got to see a bunch of my missionary friends, like my old District members from the MTC! It was great :)

We didn`t have any investigators come to church on Sunday :( but we did have 2 less actives come, so that was great! We also had a mini-miracle happen this week with a less active family in our area! We have tried to share a message with Rosana and Raul Paco many times before, and they have always half-heartedly invited us in and treated us quite coldly. But this week, they offered to feed us lunch! It was a tender mercy, because we got to get to know them better! Now, they have asked us to visit them more often, and we are planning to have a Family Home Evening with them very soon! Yay!! :)

Today for P-day, we had our Zone Activity. We traveled to La Plata to visit the Cathedral and the Natural History museum (my second time going to both). BUT I did get to do something new! We got to go up to the very top of the Cathedral in an elevator and see the entire view of La Plata and beyond! It was beautiful! :) Such an amazing experience!
Well, I hope you all have an amazing week :) Love you! Take care!!

Cambios!!

Well, this week I started off with a sinus infection, not the most fun thing to have. But with a little rest and lots of water, I`m feeling much better know! What a blessing :) On Saturday, we got to go to the chapel in La Plata to see a Cultural Event. It was a cute little program put on by the LDS youth of Còrdoba, Argentina to celebrate the dedication of the new temple there!! They did all different types of typical Argentine dances, it was great! And even better, 2 of our investigators and an inactive member joined us! It was a great night :)
Then on Sunday, we got to travel back to La Plata to see the broadcast of the actual temple dedication. It was amazing! Words can`t even describe it, the spirit was incredible :) President Uchtdorf and Elder Christofferson spoke and presided over the dedication. I really liked something that President Uchtdorf said during his talk, he said that going to the temple is how we show our commitment to walk before God with ALL our heart. I hope we can all strive to show our commitment to walk before God with ALL our heart through everything that we do :)
One more piece of news for this week: I`m going to be training again this transfer! But this time I will be training a brand new missionary, fresh from the MTC :) It will be quite the adventure! It was hard to say goodbye to Hermana Wilson today, but I know that she`ll do a great job in her new area! I`ll be staying the night in San Vicente tonight to await the arrival of my new companion tomorrow :) Wish me luck!

Love you all! Take care :)

Happy Mother´s Day :)

I love my family!! What a great time it was to see and talk to them yesterday :) I feel so blessed to have the best family in the whole wide world ;) I hope all you missionaries and moms had an amazing day yesterday!

Well, nothing too crazy happened this week besides that :) we did help another area (Los Hornos) with a Tormenta Blanca, or White Storm! A whole bunch of missionaries and members met up at the stake center, received a list of people to visit, and then we set off to help people come unto Christ! :) It was a great time, and they even fed us lunch afterwards! How thoughtful of them :)

We had a great turnout in church yesterday: three of the less active members that we have been visiting came! It was so great to see their smiling faces in the chapel once again :) One of our investigators came as well, his baptismal date is coming up in two weeks! It´s very exciting :) My companion and I, along with the other two Hermana´s in our area, sang a Mother´s Day song during sacrament meeting. I´m not sure how it sounded since we all have colds and stuffy noses... but it´s the thought that counts right? ;)

Today for P-day, we spent the morning doing our limpieza profunda. Pretty much we cleaned our house SPOTLESS! What fun that was ;) then, to help us feel better about missing our families, the four of us Hermana´s got together and ate ice cream and cake while watching Mulan 2! I must say, it really did help ;)

I believe in Christ as I believe
in the sun – not because I see
Him, but because of Him I can see everything else.

Until next week! I love you all! Take care! :)

RAIN!

What a rollercoaster of a week! We started off with RAIN on Wednesday! Not just a light sprinkle, or even a drizzle, it was a downpour! Within seconds, everything was soaking wet outside and there was mud everywhere! That put a little damper (haha) on our plans to go to Etcheverry and have lessons with our investigators there, because it´s too dangerous to ride our bikes down the main road while it´s pouring rain! Also, because the roads in Etcheverry are pretty much all dirt and potholes, which makes it almost impossible to ride a bike on them during the rain! So we had to change our plans and visit less actives closer to home that day. We did have a delicious lunch of meat, potatoes, and corn on the cob with one of our recent converts, Ramoncito. Even if it was freezing cold and we looked like dorks in our rain jackets and bike helmets ;)

Thankfully, it didn´t rain the next day and we got to make up for lost time with our investigators in Etcheverry. But of course, because Hermana Wilson and I have such good luck, the tire on Hermana Wilson´s bike popped on our way back. So we had to walk our bikes all the way home to Olmos, which took us about 40 minutes. We just laugh at ourselves when things like that happen! It was quite the adventure :)

On Friday, we had an amazing Family Home Evening with our Ward. Hermana Wilson and I taught a lesson about how to nuture our faith and stand firm in the gospel. Then the other two sister missionaries in our area, Hermana Meza and Hermana Ccorrahua, led the ward in a bunch of games! We even ended the evening with cookies and some type of fried scone! It was a fun way to bring the ward together and to feel the spirit as well :)

Saturday, we taught an English class to a bunch of members in our ward. They love hearing us speak in English, it´s pretty funny :) They really want to learn English, and it´s amazing to see how hard they are willing to work to do it!

On Sunday, it rained again during the night and so none of our investigators from Etcheverry came to church. That was a bummer. But we did have 2 less actives come, who haven´t come for months! It was great to see their smiling faces in the chapel again :)

Today, we had a great District Activity for P-day! One of the member families here, the Landa family, taught us how to make pizza! Then we watched Mulan while eating the pizza we made :) It was beautiful weather, which was quite the change from the rain and cold week we had, so everyone was very content :) It was just an all around good day!

And when we are asked why we are such a happy people, our answer is:
"Because we have everything – life with all its opportunities, death without fear, eternal life with endless growth and development."  -President Spencer W. Kimball

Take care everyone, love you all!! :)
