Translados!

This week has been very busy! We spent most of the week visitng less active members and searching for references. Then on Sunday, two of our investigators, Hernana and Indira, came to church! Hermana Silva and I were so excited, we could hardly contain it :) Hernan has accepted baptism, so now we´re just trying to find a baptismal date that can work with his schedule!! Indira is sooo close as well, espècially now that she has come to church and felt the spirit during the sacrament! :) She´s full of love and has such a strong desire to follow Jesus Christ!
Today I experienced my first transfer! Hermana Silva and I woke up early this morning and rode the train for 2 hours to get to Banfield, where we had a meeting with all the missionaries who are involved in transfers. It was a crazy morning! I´m staying in La Plata 1, but I have a new compañera now, Hermana Flores :) She´s from El Salvador and has 15 months in the mission. We´ve only had one day together, but I love her already! We´re ready to get to work and continue serving the Lord :)
I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true, with all my heart! I wouldn´t be here in Argentina if I didn´t! Love you all :) have a great week!! Stay safe!

Con mucho amor, Hermana Orgill

CARNAVAL

This week has been a little different, because our P-day is today (Wednesday) instead of on Monday like usual! It was Carnaval here in Argentina on Monday and Tuesday, and almost everyone had work off! This meant that there would be lots of families spending time together at home, so my Mission President decided to experiment by changing our P-day so that we could take advantage of everyone being at home. It was a great experience, we got to contact so many references and visit many families! I´m sure you´re all wondering how the Carnaval was, but I wouldn´t know :) we stayed clear! But we heard the music and saw the fireworks during the evening, it was definitely a fiesta!

I´ve been focusing on gratitude a lot this week and I found this quote by President Uchtdorf, "Gratitude to our Father in Heaven broadens our perception and clears our vision. It inspires humility and fosters empathy toward our fellowmen and all of God´s creations. Gratitude is a catalyst to all Christlike attributes! A thankful heart is the parent of all virtues."
Isn´t that a golden quote?! Our purpose of coming to the Earth is to obtain a body, gain experience, and prepare ourselves to live with God again one day. An important part of praparing ourselves to meet God is to try to become more Christlike, and we can do that by having a thankful heart! Always remember to give thanks and to count your blessings :) it can make ALL the difference!

Love you all, stay safe :) have a great week!!

The Work Goes On :)

This week was a little slow, especially because of the heat! My area, La Plata, is like an oven right now ;) So there aren´t very many people out in the streets during the day and most of the people spend their time sleeping when they´re at home, so they don´t answer the door. But all is well, the work goes on! :) and what a wonderful work it is! We found a new investigator this week! He is the lifelong friend of one of our less actives and he has been reading the Book of Mormon nonstop since our first visit! Mi compañera and I are very excited to work with him and help him realize how wonderful this Gospel truly is! :)
We had our Zone activity today, which was a blast! We played dodgeball, ate ice cream, and then watched the Elders play an intense game of fútbol! I also got to eat lunch at Subway today! It´s crazy how it´s almost EXACTLY the same as the Subway in Grantsville! It tastes the same too :)
Overall, it has been a great week! I´m grateful to have this oppotunity to serve the Lord with all my heart, might, mind and strength! Read D&C 4 when you get the chance, every member a missionary!
Love you all :) stay safe!

Con mucho amor, Hermana Orgill

Time flies!

January is almost over, what?! I can´t believe it! Time really does fly by :) It has been an amazing month! And what a better way to end the month than... Going to the temple!! I´m super excited that this Friday we get to take a trip to the temple in Buenos Aires :) Going to the House of the Lord is always the perfect way to recharge our spiritual batteries and feel closer to our Heavenly Father!
This week was full of visiting and inviting, we call it "abrir la boca!" It´s when we talk to as many people as possile during the day. We spent much of our time visiting less actives and inviting anyone and everyone to come to la Capilla Abierto this Saturday (it´s like an open house but for the church building). It´s going to be a busy and successful week! :)
Sorry I don´t have a lot of time today, but all is well in Argentina! It´s always a great day to share the Gospel :)
Remember to count your blessings! Love you all :)

Milagros!

This week was a week of miracles!
Our first miracle happened when we decided to spend a whole day searching out the people who had been given to us as references in the past week. Many of the references we received didn´t have house numbers, only street numbers. But with help from the spirit, we were able to find 5 new investigators through these references! What a day! :) Also, one of the references we found is a young woman named Milagros (which means miracles in English)... Coincidence? I think not ;)
Our second miracle happened when we got invited to speak in sacrament on Sunday (that wasn´t the miracle though). We were asked to speak on how missionaries and members need to work together in order for missionary work to be successful. The miracle was that I gave an entire 8 minute talk in Spanish and the members actually understood me! The gift of tongues is real everyone, I couldn´t be more thankful! :)
Our third miracle happened today when I decided to do a very dangerous thing... cook! It had been raining all morning, so we didn´t really want to do anything outside.. That´s when I decided to try and make banana bread (YUM) and here´s the miracle: I actually made banana bread! And it tasted good!
I´m grateful for miracles :) love you all!

Bienvenidos a 2015!

Happy New Year!! :) This week started off with quite the funny story: my companion getting locked in the bathroom in our apartment! The door handle broke and she ended up being stuck in there for an entire hour! I tried my best to get her out, but eventually we had to call for backup. I will never forget her face when she was finally free from our tiny bathroom, pobrecita!
We spent New Year´s Eve in our apartment, fiesta!! We ate pizza and ice cream, watched Frozen and Monster´s University, and looked for fireworks on the roof! I´d say my last night in 2014 is definitely one to remember :)
I got to start the new year off with my first intercambio (companion exchange)! And guess what? The area that I went to for 24 hours was a biking area! Doesn´t that sound fun ;) Actually, it was! I spent the day with Hermana Nava in an area called Citybell. It´s a very cute and relaxed town, it reminded me a little of Park City actually. I focused on listening to the promptimgs of the Spirit during this time and I learned sooo much! Funny how that works ;) I was extremely tired and my rearend was sore at the end of it all, but it was still a great experience!
Because of the holidays and it´s summer vacation here, this week was slow with investigators. Many of our appointments fell through and there aren´t very many people to talk to in the streets... BUT through prayer and positive thinking, we received our New Year´s Miracle! We met Mari, our newest possible investigator! She owns a vegetable shop and is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met! She was very open to hearing our message, especially about how families can be together forever! Heavenly Father answers prayers everyone :)
Love you all! Stay safe!
Con mucho Amor, Hermana Orgill
