It's P-day already?! (An Older Post- October 31, 2014)

Wow, time flies here in the MTC! I can't believe it's already Friday again! I've learned so much the past week! My companion and I have taught two investigators so far, Fernando and Raul. They're great! They don't get impatient with us when we have to use our broken spanish ;) The language is difficult of course, but no one said this would be easy! I can 100% feel the gift of tongues working on me already! 

I got two new roommates this week, Hermana O'Niel and Hermana Sagapolu. They are such sweethearts! Now there are 3 snorers in my room, instead of 2 ;) Don't worry, I still love them! (Earplugs are my new best friend.) The weather has been BEAUTIFUL today! My entire district spent about 2 hours of our free time playing sand volleyball outside! We also went to the temple this morning, today has been a very good day! Let's just say, being a missionary is THEE BEST!

I Survived! (An Older Post- October 24, 2014)

Well, I made it through my first few days at the MTC! The food is bland, the days are long, but the spirit is so strong! I love it :) I went to the temple this morning, which was amazing! It felt odd to leave the campus part of the MTC. I love my companion, Hermana Witsken! She is the greatest! We get along really well! Mi companero and I live in the same room as one other companionship, Hermana's Glazier and Feldermann. They are such sweethearts! There are 9 Hermanas and 2 Elders in my district, which apparently is a weird combination for a district to have! But we have a really good time together, learning and laughing! I´ve seen so many Sisters and Elders from Grantsville! Elder Tripp, Elder Krogh, Sister Eyre, and Sister Turner! Sister Turner is even in my district! It´s great!

I played volleyball yesterday during gym time, which was a blast! I also tried out early morning yoga and kickboxing! What a workout, I am most definitely OUT OF SHAPE! But 30 minutes of exercise everyday will hopefully help with that :) My Espanol is coming along, slowly but surely! It's tough, and a little frustrating at times, but it always feels good when I master a word or phrase! Time is already flying by! Days feel like weeks and weeks feel like days, or so I've heard. I will be teaching my first investigator tonight, Fernando. He doesn't speak English, so thank goodness for the spirit because neither do I! ;)

Well, time flies when you`re having fun! :) Ups and downs, rain or shine, these past 18 months have been worth it all! It has been unforgettable and I will treasure it forever! I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live! :)

The Brightside :)

Sometimes it feels like the greatest lesson that Heavenly Father wants me to learn in the mission is patience. And wow, am I learning it :) Our 2 investigators with a baptismal date, Facundo and Victor, didn`t come to church this week. It was a bit of a bummer because we`ll have to move back their baptism now, but on the bright side they`ll be able to prepare themselves even more for their big day :) Like President Monson says, we can`t control the wind but we can adjust the sails!

Another brightside- Karen had her baby this week! And it`s a girl :) She`s adorable and a chubster, just like her big brother. We got to go visit them in the hospital on Tuesday. A little bundle of cuteness!

I had an intercambio in Pinamar with Hermana Ramirez on Friday. The mission nurse ended up calling us and poor Hermana Ramirez had to accompany me to a quick doctors visit to check out my cold. She was a good sport about it though, we spent the day laughing (and coughing) :) Hopefully my health will be 100% at the end of this week so I can finish strong! All is well though!

This week, I had two intercambios! One in Pinamar with Hermana Mantcheff from Rosario Argentina, and the other with Hermana Olson from Washington! Both of them were great! I love getting to know the other sisters and work alongside them in the Lord`s vineyard! :)
We had interviews with President Nuñez Friday morning and then an activity in the church that evening: El Baile del Sombrero! (A Hat Dance!) Everyone came to the dance in their best and biggest hat, it was quite the sight! :) We met a lot of new people, investigators, and got to enjoy a few hours of fun with the members here in Villa Gesell!
On Sunday, we had a District Conference in Pinamar. They talked a lot about loving and serving others. The Savior always taught the importance of loving one another. He was the perfect example and shows us how we can do the same!
"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

This week was full of fun! On Tuesday I got to travel, without a companion once again, to Quilmes for Leadership Council. It´s always an adventure! I didn`t get back to Villa Gesell until 10:30pm Wednesday night. But it´s always fun to see all the other missionaries that don`t get to see very often :)

We got to attend a baptism on Saturday for one of the little boys of a recent convert family, Adriano Guerra. It`s always a special day when a child of God makes the decision to be baptized! The spirit was there, especially when Adriano entered the warm water to be baptized by his dad, a recent convert of just one year! :) Families can be together forever!

On Sunday, a miracle happened! The boyfriend of our golden investigator, Karen, came to church for the first time! His name is Diego and he has never really had any interest in changing his worldly habits or coming to church, but he came!! Hermana Lemos and I were so excited, it`s a huge step for him. We`ve been praying and fasting for them so that Diego`s heart can be softened and he can realize all the blessings that are waiting for him if he´ll follow the Savior´s example: an eternal family!! It was the cutest thing, seeing Karen and Diego sitting next to eachother in sacrament meeting, next to their little 2 year old son, Alexander. I could honestly see this family all dressed in white, ready to recieve the blessings of living the gospel. I love this gospel :)

Today for P-day, we all met in Pinamar and walked over to the beach to have a picnic lunch and build sand temples! It was a bit windy and chilly outside, but that didn`t stop us from having a fun time together as a Zone! :) One brave Elder even let himself be burried... what a trooper!

General Conference weekend always leaves a special spirit in the air :) I`m so grateful for the Prophets and Apostles that lead and guide us in this crazy world! 

I was sick this week, so not much news other than Conference... we did get to have a lesson with Karen and her boyfriend. That went well! Hopefully the next time that we get to see Karen, she will have received her answer and know the next step that Heavenly Father wants her to take :)

I know that Jesus Christ lives and is the Savior of the world. We are blessed to have the fullness of the gospel restored to the Earth. I couldn`t be more grateful to be able to share this message of love and hope with the people of Argentina! It`s a great day to be a Mormon :)

Never forget the words of a wise prophet:

He Lives! :)

Happy Easter!! :) 

I don`t have much time today, but we`ve seen so many miracles this week! First of all, with our investigator, Karen. She has been coming to church faithfully every week and we had a lesson with her at a recent converts house, the Guerra family. It was such a strong spiritual experience, Hermana Guerra shared her testimony of how the gospel has blessed her and her family. Karen was more than excited to accept another invitation to be baptized and is more determined than ever to find a way to either get married to her boyfriend, or separate. Another miracle that we saw with Karen was that, her boyfriend Diego, who hasn`t really wanted much to do with the church, went to the Branch Family Home Evening yesterday. We`re praying super hard that he will be more willing talk with us now and go to church next Sunday! :)

Facundo and his little brother, Victor, are also very excited to come to church each Sunday. In one of the lessons we had with them this week, Facundo wanted to say the opening and the closing prayer. It`s so sweet to see how happy the gospel makes people :)

It was a bit rainy for Easter Sunday yesterday, but special nonetheless. One of the members, Hermana Behotas, was very stressed out about not having enough time to get everything done in her house before the Branch Family Home Evening. So we offered to help! We got to help her decorate homemade chocolate Easter eggs with colorful frosting! Of course we were more than happy to help :) 

I know that the Savior lives :) with all my heart! He lives! And loves us :)

Happy first day of Fall! :)

We traveled to La Plata again this week for a Gira Misional (Mission Tour) with Elder Spitale (Area 70) from Córdoba, Argentina! 6 more hours in a bus, yay! But the talk we had with Elder Spitale was amazing! It has really made a difference in the week! :) He talked a lot about attitudes and the importance of opening our mouths to talk with everyone! So my companion and I decided to put it to the test and WOW! Miracles!

The day after the chat with Elder Spitale, we tried even harder than usual to talk with everyone and to have a positive attitude. Before lunchtime, 2 of our appointments had fallen through and I had a giant headache, but that didn`t stop us! We kept going hard and the blessings came! We found so many families who were willing to listen to our message and make follow up appointments for later on in the week! We found one woman, named Doris, who had all the golden questions a missionary loves to hear: what`s the difference between your church and all the other churches out there? How can I know which one is true? It was amazing! We left her with a Book of Mormon and an appointment to go back and see her! A little miracle :)

On Sunday, we had 4 investigators in church: Karen, Aylen, Facundo, and Victor! That was quite the little miracle as well, since almost everyone in Villa Gesell works on Sunday. That`s one of the biggest challenges here. We`re really seeing a lot of progress in Gesell! The Lord is busy at work and so are we! :)

Today for P-day, our District got together in Villa Gesell to play sand volleyball at the beach (now that beach season is over and all the tourists have fled). It was a blast! Never have I enjoyed the feel of sand between my toes so much before :)

Honestly, a week to remember!

I was on the move almost all week, I hardly spent any time in my area Villa Gesell! But it was still a wonderful week :) On Tuesday we had our Zone Conference and then I had companionship exchanges in Pinamar with Hermana Mortensen, from Utah. During Zone Conference, we practiced teaching short, powerful versions of the Restoration lesson. My group was made up of 4 Hermanas and... our mission president, President Nuñez! It`s always a little nerve wracking when the mission president watches you over your shoulder, but it`s also always a great learning experience! We were able to put the nerves aside and really follow the spirit, making room for the spirit to testify of the simple truths.

I also had companionship exchanges in Pinamar with Hermana Ramirez, from Mexico. She`s a wonderful missionary and has so much love for everyone around her! It was a great intercambio :)

Saturday, we spent the day in Mar de Ajó helping with a Tormenta Blanca and doing street contacts to find those who have been prepared to hear the gospel! Today we had our Zone Activity for P-day! We made tacos and played volleyball :) Just a nice, relaxed activity!

I`ve definitely had to put in practice the divine virtue of patience this week, having to travel so much and not being able to work in my area most of the week. But I was still able to see many miracles! Karen, our golden investigator, came to church on Sunday and to the Branch Family Home Evening on Sunday night! She amazes us more and more each day with her desires to come to church, even with the tough situation that she`s in. All I know is that the Gospel blesses lives and helps us become better each and every day :)
